How do I clean my vinyl siding?

Vinyl siding can be cleaned with a pressure washer. If it isn’t carefully washed, the pressure washer can cause damage to the siding.

Using a Cloth and Brush

A soft brush and cloth work great to clean spiderwebs, dirt, animal nests, fungus, and other elements from your siding without damaging it. It does take a longer time to clean your entire house than a pressure washer, but you will not risk damaging the vinyl siding on your home.

Pressure Washer

The amount of pressure suggested may vary based on the product’s durability. If you use too much pressure, you will end up damaging your siding. Many manufactures have recommended pressure strengths, so check with the manufacture first.

Cleaning Solutions

Solutions like undiluted chlorine bleach, furniture shampoos, liquid grease remover, or organic solvents could chemically alter the color of your siding. To clean and retain the color of your siding, using a solution of ⅔ water and ⅓ white vinegar works great! Simple Green, laundry soap, and gentle household cleaners should work great.
