How Many Downspouts Do I Really Need?

To get the best draining results from your gutters, we recommend having at least one downspout for 50 feet, and two 2 downspouts for over 50 feet.

What’s a downspout?

A downspout directs the water down the side of your house and away from your home. Without downspouts, your gutters will overfill, causing damage to your roof, siding, foundation, and possibly flooding your home.

How many downspouts does my gutter system need?

For the best results, you’ll need at least one downspout for every 50 feet of gutter length. Too few downspouts and you’ll run the risk of overflowing your gutters causing all sorts of problems like rusting, damage to your foundation, roof or siding, and potentially a flood.
